Not over whelming for the younger student as it uses eighth notes and one octave up and down with the pattern. I like to use Hanon as a way to get This is a marvelous book for anyone wanting to improve their technique through practical exercises and scales. I owned copy of 'Hanon' in it's original form, however I think the original is far too long-winded and one simple exercise can take up two pages.
The editor here condenses Whether you're new to piano or have been playing for a while and want to improve, this is highly recommended! There is nothing junior about this book of scales. It provides a wide variety of scale exercises that give your fingers a wonderful workout. Highly recommend to beginner needing to know the major and minor scales. Best of all it uses 8th notes, NOT 16th!!!
