Mahakali is of another nature. There is in her a overwhelming intensity, a mighty passion of force to achieve, a divine violence rushing to shatter every limit and obstacle. All her divinity leaps out in a splendour of tempestuous action; she is therefore swiftness, for the immediately effective process, the rapid and direct stroke, the frontal assault that carries everything, before it. Terrible is her face to the Asura, dangerous and ruthless her mood against the haters of the Divine; for she is the Warrior of the Worlds who never shrinks from the battle. Intolerant of imperfection, she deals roughly with all in man that is unwilling and she is severe to all that is obstinately ignorant and obscure; her wrath is immediate and dire against treachery and falsehood and malignity, ill-will is smitten at once by her scourage. Indifference, negligence and sloth in the divine work she cannot bear and she smites awake at once with sharp pain, if need be, the untimely slumberer and the loiterer.

The impulses that are swift and straight and frank, the movements that are unreserved and absolute, the aspiration that mounts in flame are the motion of Mahakali. Her spirit is tameless, her vision and will are high and far-reaching like the flight of an eagle, her feet are rapid on the upward way and her hands are outstretched to strike and to succour.
For she too is the Mother and her love is as intense as her wrath and she has a deep and passionate kindness. When she is allowed to intervene in her strength , then in one moment are broken like things without consistence the obstacles that immobilise or the enemies that assail the seeker. Page of 2 Go Next Last. Posted: 7 years ago. I know I am posting late, but family comes first. As usual like every one, I loved the episode.
I don't think I remember anything other than seeing Mother Kali. I don't know mythologically if this is how it happened or not, but it made total sense as the scenes receding did pave Parvathi taing Kali roop. She was distraught that she was unable to provide the safety her kids need in her mind as a mother and it just so happned that someone tried to kill her daughter.
In Kali roop she has no barriers, her only focus is destruction. I loved the confrontation with Lord Shiva. If you observe, Kali addresses Parvathi in 3rd person. How neat is that? Kali and Parvathi are different attributes of the same shakti. Multiple personalities if you will. What Parvathi could never verbalize , Kali did.
Why her? Why is she being asked to sacrifice time and time again. I don't think it is ever answered by Mahadev. She is the mother who never bore any of her children in her womb. She is mother who gave up her kids for the sake of other million and millions of kids. Her kids suffer just because they are born to her. They are threatened time and time again. The ultimate protector comes out. Before her Lord Shiva had to become a child.
As a batuk, he also needed protection, the love. The same thing made her take Kali form made her become Maha Gauri again. Meaning: Lakshmi saraswathi, parvathi 3 mothers to the world.
She is the first mother to the universe. The mother that kills all the devils rakshasas so that their mothers will be free from the sins of their sons. The wives and mothers of all the gods who believes durga will always have the blessings of mother durga with them. That kind of mother sri Durga matha, By ur kind ness please allow me to write bhagavatham with Knowledge, poetry, strength and wealth. The classic poem written by Potanna at the beginning of translating Maha Bhagavatam.
This is greatness of Mother, despite million sacrifices, all she cares is a smile on her kids face. All's well that ends well!! Excellent explanation. I too wanted to open a separate thread, but now will add in yours. This is how Sri Aurobindo describes Maha Kali. Just read the description and see how well it fits in with yesterday's portrayal.
I bow down before the great sages. What a meek human mind can't express, they find the perfect words to say it. I am truly humbled to be born in a culture where human intellect is used in upliftment of fellow human beings.. Mahadev- Kali convo was the best!! Varaali : Wow That is one powerful and beautiful description of Ma Kali Thanks for sharing..!! I m so glad this time.. CVs did justice in portraying Ma Kali!!
If Bhagavatham is aout srimahavishnu, why did Pottanna start with Devi namasmaram. Not that its wrong but just curious. The stars are blotted out, The clouds are covering clouds. It is darkness vibrant, sonant. In the roaring, whirling wind Are the souls of a million lunatics Just loosed from the prison-house, Wrenching trees by the roots, Sweeping all from the path.
The sea has joined the fray, And swirled up mountain-waves, To reach the pitchy sky. The flash of lurid light Reveals on every side A thousand, thousand shades Of Death begrimed and black- Scattering plagues and sorrows, Dancing mad with joy, Come, Mother, come!
For terror is Thy name, Death is in thy breath, And every shaking step Destoys a world for e'er. Thou Time, the All-destroyer! Come, O Mother, come! Who dares misery love, And hug the form of Death, Dance in destruction's dance To him the Mother comes. Many people believe that Kali represents the combination of all the Goddesses' collective anger, which can be an extremely dangerous side of the Divine Feminine.
The fear also exists, that if that collective anger should ever break free, then the people of Earth would no longer need to worry, because there would be nothing left for them to worry about. When it comes to Shiva, Kali appears to take an opposing role to Parvati, who seems to have an extremely calming influence on him.
It is Parvati, who domesticates Shiva, and helps him find balance. Kali is a Goddess who represents so much. She is both a creator and a destroyer, bringing with her the ultimate horror and the most fulfilling joy. By combining all of these things into one, Kali is able to dance that eternal dance of existence. If you ever do decide to join Kali, and dance her eternal dance, it might be wise for you to be prepared and to be very, very careful; because when the metaphorical music stops, and the dance finally does come to an end, you just might discover that you have received much more then you had ever bargained for.
